Ellen Carol DuBois, a distinguished professor of History and Women's Studies, has been teaching at UCLA since 1988. Among her pioneering studies of the U.S. woman suffrage movement are Feminism and Suffrage: The Emergence of an Independent Women's Movement in America, 1848-1869 (Cornell University Press) and Harriot Stanton Blatch and the Winning of Woman Suffrage (Yale University Press), winner of the Joan Kelly Prize of the AHA for “Best Book in Women’s History”. She is also the co-author of Through Women's Eyes: An American History (Bedford MacMillan, 4th edition), which is the leading textbook in the field.
