Walter Johnson

Walter Johnson is Winthrop Professor of History and Professor of African and African American Studies at Harvard University. A Missouri native and author of the critically acclaimed Soul by Soul: Life Inside the Antebellum Slave Market (Harvard University Press, 1999), which won numerous prestigious awards, and River of Dark Dreams: Slavery and Empire in the Cotton Kingdom (Harvard University Press, 2017), he lives in Arlington, MA.
